More Trubls 4 McCain - RPaul switching to Target Cntr
Tue Jul 22, 2008 at 11:16:01 AM PDT
Ron Paul's peeps are moving his Sept 2nd GOP upsetters meeting to the Target Center, a larger capacity venue, because of increased enthusiasm. How much more drama can we Minneapolitans endure?
Here's the link from NPR
St. Paul, Minn. — Former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is moving his so-called Revolution Rally to a larger venue during the Republican National Convention.
McCain he won't be likin this ........
Ban Clusterbombs? : BHO voted Yea - HRC voted Nay
Mon Feb 25, 2008 at 01:38:15 PM PDT
The other day, Minnesota Monitor brought to my attention that a munitions maker named ATK in my home state was in the business of clusterbomb manufacturing. Indiscriminate weapons made right in my back yard. Sad.
At the heart of the controversy is an ATK-manufactured bomblet known as the M85. Packed in missiles and dropped on military targets, the M85 bomblets wreak destruction over a much wider territory than conventional munitions. And because some portion of the missiles' multi-cluster bomb payload fails to detonate on impact, they can go on causing civilian casualties after combat is over.
Digging a little deeper, I find out about Senate Amendment No. 4882 which called for their banning, and was introduced 9/5/06 by Feinstein and Leahy.
AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
To protect civilian lives from unexploded cluster munitions.
Back then, Obama voted for the ban, Clinton voted against the ban. Read on....
Actual Voters vs. Pundits and Pollsters
Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 04:39:32 PM PDT
Power to the People! The biggest primary upset so far in my mind was the pollster/pundit "pros" getting "wronged" by the voters in both Iowa and New Hampshire. There's been a lotta "Doh, maybe we're not as smart as we thought we were." I love it. I'm overjoyed when people (especially voters) start making up their own minds in our media saturated culture. Here's a few examples of post election excuses and tongue-tied explanations from some of these distinguished prophets and mind readers for your reading pleasure....
Osama bin Winnin'
Sat Mar 04, 2006 at 09:03:27 PM PDT
Osama did one job on U.S. soil five years ago, but
the fear created by that event has been doing a
job on the average U.S. citizen everyday since.
How much collective energy has been wastefully
spent on irrational fear? The people keep falling
for the ruse. The government is still trying to
declare everyday an emergency.
Do the math. The odds of a terrorist killing a
citizen in the U.S. are lower than just about any
other cause of death, natural or otherwise.
Whether a fire, a car accident, cancer, old age,
emphysema, or obesity.

Minnesota High Schoolers Stage Walkout War Protest Today
Wed Nov 02, 2005 at 04:54:29 AM PDT
Hey kids ........ rock-n roll, Rock On!
High schoolers in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis, St. Paul) Public School system are staging a walkout today to protest the Iraq war and the presence of military recruiters at their high schools. Over 1000 students have committed to the walkout and it's got some adults in a tizzy:
Students who walk out of class will pay a price, said Bill Wacker, head of Trinity School at River Ridge, a private school in Bloomington.
"I don't know what disrupting their education and the education of others accomplishes," he said. "These are complex issues. I really hope that, in class, students learn how to think and make decisions."
Reno Man Files Lawsuit against Bush/Cheney/PNAC
Wed Jan 19, 2005 at 08:47:17 AM PDT
Retired lawyer Doug Wallace has filed a class action lawsuit against Bush and the PNAC neo-con agenda. He is "75 years of age, a father of six; a grandfather of soon to be 26 and a great- grandfather of 4."
Here is an excerpt from his PRESS RELEASE JANUARY 14, 2005
SUBJECT: LAWSUIT FILED IN U.S. DISTRICT COURT IN RENO
AGAINST GEORGE W. BUSH AND RICHARD B.CHENEY
A lawsuit was filed today in the U.S. District Court in Reno, Nevada against President Bush and Vice President Cheney. The lawsuit alleges that both defendants have acted outside the scope of their job description in waging a war against Iraq. The complaint alleges that both defendants and others working within the White House and Defense Department have covertly implemented a white paper called "Rebuilding America's Defenses" as presented by the Project for the New American Century or PNAC in September, 2000 two months before the murky elections of that year. Among the persons signing the paper were Richard Cheney and Jeb Bush. While the paper was published on the internet, implementation of it by the White House has been in secret.
Martha Stewart Lunches with a Real Hero
Mon Nov 29, 2004 at 08:34:06 AM PDT
I'm glad Martha Stewart is in prison. Not just because of some vengeance trip against greedy capitalists, but more because Stewart's celebrity status brings much needed attention to another inmate in the same prison. She's a Dominican nun named Carol Gilbert and she's my kind of hero.
We all know why Martha's there, but why is this 57 year old nun in prison ?
Gilbert and Sisters Ardeth Platte and Jackie Hudson went to the N-8 Minuteman III missile site in rural northeastern Weld County on a mission to nonviolently and symbolically inspect, expose and disarm what they branded an illegal and immoral weapon of mass destruction.
Clad in white jumpsuits identifying the trio as a "citizens' weapons inspector team," they cut through a security fence, smeared crosses in their own blood on the silo lid, and tapped on the rails - on which the 110-ton cover would move in the event of a missile launch - with ball-peen hammers in a symbolic attempt to beat swords into plowshares.
The stark contrast between Stewart and Gilbert is enlightening, and in many ways highlights the signs of our times. Rocky Mountain News
The Crushed Optimism of a Young Republican
Sun Nov 21, 2004 at 11:00:22 AM PDT
I did a diary about this Republican Professional IT security person a while back. His name is Chuck Herrin. I went back and visited his site and found a rant echoing many here on Kos. He firmly believes the Vote was hacked and he is now totally disillusioned with his Grand Old Party.
http://www.chuckherrin.com/rants.htm
Here are some excerpts - but also check out his whole site. This is a man of spiritual integrity, if you ask me. He interprets the Bible way different than your average gay bashing freeper.
Take this last Presidential campaign - I watched while both sides went negative, but my side went EXCLUSIVELY, almost gratuitously negative. All we did was mock and make fun of the Democrats and Kerry, which let us avoid real issues. As a Republican, Bush's record troubles me, but this was ignored in the effort to smear Kerry, a decorated war hero, and his supporters, also a bunch of decorated war heroes, as traitors to their country. We smeared a Vietnam Vet (Max Cleland) in a wheelchair with one arm and no legs as a traitor to his country.
Insider Jeff Cohen Blasts Corporate Media
Fri Nov 19, 2004 at 10:37:54 PM PDT
Jeff Cohen worked in the belly of the beast as a panelist/commentator over the years at all three cable news channels.
He founded FAIR, the New York-based media watch group. He's also been a nationally-syndicated columnist and was the communications director of the Kucinich for President campaign. Major cred.
Here is his speech made at ILCA (Intl. Labor Communications Assoc.) workshop in Washington, D.C., Nov. 12, 2004.
Viewers of Fox News, where I worked for years, were the most misled. But strong majorities of CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN viewers were also confused on at least one of these points. Among those informed on all 3 questions, only 23 percent supported Bush's war.
How can you have a meaningful election in a country where, according to polls, half or more of the American people don't know who attacked us on 9/11? They think Saddam Hussein was involved.
To help Bush mislead Americans, Fox News Channel required that the banner "War on Terror" run when Iraq was discussed.

Republican Professional Hacker Disses Diebold Bigtime!
Tue Nov 16, 2004 at 07:57:13 PM PDT
A self described Republican, who makes his living as a "white hat" security hacker, easily hacked Diebold's system, and states he'd be surprised if this election wasn't hacked.
What I found truly shocked me, and made me physically ill. That's what is documented on the other page. It IS that bad. I personally don't have conclusive evidence that voter fraud was perpetrated, but I can tell you as an Information Security professional that it would have been very, very easy to do.
and he goes on to say how crooked the company is...
Check this out - No less than 5 of Diebold's developers are convicted felons, including Senior Vice President Jeff Dean, and topping the list are his twenty-three counts of felony Theft in the First Degree. According to the findings of fact in case no. 89-1-04034-1

NowNews - Not just Dems crying "fraud"
Mon Nov 15, 2004 at 09:39:50 PM PDT
Sour Grapes? I got two hangin'. But it's not just your garden variety Democrats crying foul. The vote fraud issue has created some strange bedfellows. Here's some recent news items:

And we all know New Hampshire is about to become a test case for the accuracy of optical scan vote-counting machines - thanks to Third-Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader.
Libertarian Party candidate Michael Badnarik joined Green Party candidate David Cobb who announced yesterday that his campaign has raised enough money to force Ohio to recount its presidential vote.
Tell me this ain't funny
Fri Nov 12, 2004 at 10:49:56 PM PDT
Check out the GOP-damned poll on the GOP-damned site. I voted for health care, did a backspace, and noticed it changed my vote to "Overturn Roe vs Wade". I voted again for education, (it told me I already voted), but I did a backspace and it changed my vote to "retaining the presidents tax cuts."
