Hillary and her Constituents - Another lesson

Fri Apr 06, 2007 at 06:44:12 AM PDT

So what does it take to get some time with Hillary Clinton if you are one of her constituents?  How about a fundraiser?

Hillary Clinton defended her warming relationship on Tuesday with Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul. Commenting on Mr Murdoch's decision to host a fundraiser for her Senate-election campaign, Mrs Clinton said: "He's my constituent and I'm very gratified that he thinks I'm doing a good job."

And we know Murdoch wanted War with Iraq because it would be good for the world economy.  And Senator Clinton is very gratified that he thinks she is doing a good job.

Now, say you are a New Yorker against the war.  Hillary doesn't want anything to do with you.

Following a huge demonstration and march in which participants created posters and fliers memorializing the more than 3,200 American service members killed in Iraq, organizers didn't want the work to just be thrown away.

So they tried to present the material to the office of U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

It proved to be no small task.

The activists say they were told they'd have to wait two months for an appointment, were denied entrance to the New York Democrat's office at the federal building in Albany and never actually got to present the materials directly to a staffer.

Clinton's office doesn't dispute the sequence of events, but says the activists' interpretation was a misunderstanding and that the senator welcomes contact with constituents.

And as usual with Clinton, she isn't really lying.  She does welcome contact with constituents.  Ones like Rupert Murdoch.   I'm just hoping more people start "understanding" Hillary for who she really represents.
